VIC:Vic granny jailed for killing husband

By Daniel Fogarty

MELBOURNE, April 20 AAP - A Victorian grandmother who killed her husband after he constantly
demanded kinky sex has been jailed for 11 years.

Eileen Mary Creamer, 53, was the first Victorian woman to be found guilty of defensive homicide.

She bashed her husband David, possibly with a South African tribal stick, before stabbing
him in the abdomen during a fight at their Moe home in February 2008.

During her Victorian Supreme Court trial, Creamer said her husband made constant demands
for unusual sex that she felt she could not refuse. They included her having sex with
other men in front of him.

She said her husband had been violent and abusive to her in the lead-up to his death.

On Wednesday, Justice Paul Coghlan said the Creamers had a "largely, if not entirely
dysfunctional" relationship.

He said both Creamer and her husband had other lovers.

Justice Coghlan noted that Creamer spent the night with her lover in the days before
she killed her husband.

Creamer's version of the killing did not accord with the known facts and she said things
to the jury that she had never mentioned to any other person before giving evidence, he
said.

The crime was a serious example of defensive homicide and David Creamer was struck
by a number of blows to the head "in what can only be described as a very severe beating",
Justice Coghlan said.

But, he said, Creamer was placed in a very difficult situation by the relationships
her husband was engaged in.

The jury during the trial heard that Creamer sent a used condom to one of her husband's
lovers, with a note that read: "Just to tell you how good it was with David. He could
not get enough. You're not woman enough for him. Ha ha ha ha".

She also contacted psychics and asked for their help to win her husband back.

Prosecutors argued Creamer murdered her husband because he planned to leave her and
return to his first wife in South Africa.

A jury found Creamer not guilty of murder but guilty of defensive homicide.

Justice Coghlan ordered South African-born Creamer, who is also a former New Zealand
resident, serve at least seven years in prison before being eligible for parole.

She has already served nearly two years in custody.
