NSW: More fires erupt as temperatures soar = 2

Rural Fire Services spokesman JOHN WINTER says more than 30 aircraft have been deployed
to waterbomb and search for new blazes while firefighter numbers have been almost doubled
to around 800.

Officers from the RFS, NSW Fire Brigades and the National Parks and Wildlife Service
are involved in the fire effort.

A total fire ban is in place across half the state including the central and southern tablelands.

Mr WINTER says a blaze near the Pacific Highway north of Richmond is being co-ordinated
by National Parks and Wildlife Service officers and has already burnt out 10,000 hectares.

He says the greatest threat to fires under control are strong, hot winds which could
fan flames across controlled perimetres.

Mr WINTER says conditions are expected to worsen tomorrow with high temperatures expected
around the state.
